Local softball fans are getting a large dose of action this week as youth teams from around the region converge on Roseburg's Gaddis Park for the 2014 Pacific Northwest Babe Ruth Regional Fast Pitch Tournament.

First-round games start at 8 o'clock Thursday morning with the tournament continuing through Sunday, July 20.

Teams and out-of-state fans arrive Wednesday for the opening ceremonies at 4:30. The day also includes a barbecue, skills competition and clinic.

Four regional tournaments will run concurrently, with 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U age groups competing.
