Roseburg's Indian Fastpitch 14U softball team couldn't keep up with the offense of Long Beach Heartwell of Lakewood, CA, losing 16-4 in five innings in the ASA 14B Western National Tournament at Medford's US Cellular Community Park Tuesday.

Pool play continues Wednesday (July 30) as the Indians take on Eastvale of Riverside, CA, at 1p.m.

Eastvale lost 8-5 to Magic Black of Cupertino (CA) in an earlier pool round game. The winner will finish third in the four-team pool.

The tournament, presented by the City of Medford and coordinated by the city's Parks and Recreation Department, boasts 30 teams. Roseburg is joined by five other Oregon teams, including the state champion Silver Bullets from Portland and state runner-up Grants Pass. California has 20 teams in the tourney, mostly from the Los Angeles area. Teams from Washington round out the field.

Double-elimination bracket play starts July 31 after pool play is completed and the championship game is at 1p.m. August 3.
