Douglas County Fastpitch, a local softball team age 16-and-under made of players from Douglas, Glide and South Umpqua high schools, is looking to extend its streak of solid play this week at the Junior Olympic Fast Pitch Girls' B 16-Under Western National Championship in Gillette, Wyoming.

DC Fastpitch will take on Chino, CA, at 11a.m. Thursday morning in the opening round of pool play at Bicentennial Park. Depending on the outcome, they will play later in the afternoon against either Rocky Mountain, CO, or Spokane, WA, in the final game of pool play.

There are three pools and 12 teams playing in the tournament. (Four teams per pool.)

DC, coached by Brad Deaver, has experienced tremendous success this month. The team won the Oregon State ASA 16U 'B' championship in early July, followed by four straight wins at the Northwest Regional Tournament to take that title as well two weeks ago.

DC Fastpitch sports a 6-0 record through those two qualifying tournaments and have outscored opponents by a total of 46-10 heading into the Western Nationals.
