Roseburg's Indian Fastpitch 14U softball team lost its first game in bracket play Thursday morning 11-2 to Simi Nation of Simi Valley, CA, in the ASA 14B Western National Tournament at Medford's US Cellular Community Park. The Indians entered bracket play as a #4-seed while Simi Valley was a #1 after winning their four-team pool previously in the tournament.

Roseburg will play Huntington Beach of Irvine, CA, Friday at 9a.m. in a loser's bracket game.

The 30-team tournament is sponsored by the City of Medford and coordinated by the its Parks and Rec Department. Roseburg is one of six Oregon teams, including the state champion Silver Bullets from Portland and state runner-up Grants Pass. California has 20 teams in the tourney, mostly from the Los Angeles area. Teams from Washington round out the field.

The tourney continues throughout the week with the championship game set for August 3rd at 1p.m..
