Douglas County Fastpitch 16-and-under settled for a split in its first day of bracket play Friday at the Junior Olympic Fast Pitch Girls' B 16-Under Western National Championships in Gillette, Wyoming.

DC lost 13-10 to the Belmont Blast in the first round Friday afternoon and then took care of Central Wyoming Fusion 14-4 at Bicentennial Park.

The team will face Adrenaline White of Rocky Mountain, CO, Saturday morning at 11a.m. The two teams faced each other Thursday in pool play, with Douglas County winning a close one, 10-9.

DC Fastpitch won the Oregon State ASA 16U 'B' championship in early July, followed by four straight wins at the Northwest Regional Tournament to take that title as well. The local softball team features players age 16-and-under from Douglas, Glide and South Umpqua high schools.
