Only four of 10 Douglas County football teams tasted victory Friday night as some local squads struggled under the lights.

South Umpqua scored a pair of late touchdowns to upend Banks 13-7. Erik Johnson hit tight end Cameron Everett for a 20-yard touchdown pass and junior tailback Kyler Merritt scored the winning touchdown with less than a minute to go.

Oakland picked up its first win of the season with a 68-6 thrashing of Rogue River Friday night, while Riddle downed Bonanza 54-20. Reedsport was also victorious against Douglas County foe Glide, shutting out the Wildcats 14-0.

Yoncalla racked up a lot of points in their game against Siletz Valley, winning 60-32 in eight-man 1A action.

Roseburg opened the conference season with 56-7 loss at North Medford. The Indians' lone touchdown came late in the 4th quarter on a Kyle Rackley touchdown run.

The Douglas Trojans also lost big, 61-6 to visiting Mazama.

Ryland McKnight scored two touchdowns and Ray Henderson scored once to lead Sutherlin, but the Bulldogs fell 43-20 on the road to Harrisburg.

Elsewhere, North Douglas and Glendale also suffered losses.
