Junior running back Kyler Merritt scored five touchdowns in South Umpqua's 57-14 playoff win over Philomath Friday night in Corvallis.

Erik Johnson also threw a pair of TD passes for the Lancers, including a 53 yard strike to Alex Kelly and a 23 yarder to Shawn Rigsby.

Next up,South Umpqua (8-2) will travel to Far West League champion North Bend (10-0) for a quarterfinal matchup with the Bulldogs.

Earlier this season, North Bend beat SU 58-31.

In Oakland, the Oakers took a 14-0 lead into the locker toom at halftime and never trailed in their game against Toledo in the Class 2A playoffs, winning 35-18 to advance.

Elsewhere Friday night, Roseburg saw its season come o an end with a 56-13 drubbing at Sherwood; North Douglas lost to Dufur 48-0; and in a 1A shootout it was Yoncalla over Days Creek 66-60 in overtime.
