Oregon's reigning 6A state champion in the javelin is headed to the University of Oklahoma in Norman.
Roseburg's Gabrielle Kearney signed her letter-of-intent Wednesday morning at a press conference on the RHS campus. The senior made the announcement by cutting into a cake to unveil the Oklahoma logo at the bottom.
"I really liked the campus and the coaches are amazing," Gabby said. "It felt like home and I know I'm making the right decision."
Last season, Kearney won the 6A state title with a throw of 164 feet and was named The Oregonian's 2014 girls track and field athlete of the year.
