The Roseburg School Board is moving forward with plans to replace the entire roof of Roseburg High School's Stewart W. Robertson Gymnasium.

Officials say the roof is 62 years old, with aging and support structure issues.

The district has spent thousands on repairs over the past several years. This is the first time the roof will be completely replaced.

The project is expected to cost about $2.3 million and to help with budgeting, the board says it has applied for a $1.5 million grant.
     
The gym is still in use but officials say they are monitoring the roof closely.

The replacement project is expected to begin next summer.
