ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg High girl’s basketball team has a new coach this season.

Rich Robles previously coached men’s basketball at Umpqua Community College and coached the Douglas High boys last season before taking over as Roseburg's head girls basketball coach, replacing outgoing coach Jeff Thomas. It's the first time Robles has been a head coach of a girls team.

"Even though it's a little different, it's still basketball,” Robles said. “It's still very fundamental and they needed somebody. I was planning on taking a year off and watching my daughters, but to be involved and to work with these young ladies is turning out to be a nice thing."

The Lady Indians start Southwest Conference play with a home game against Thurston January 6. You can see the Lady Indians’ schedule and results here.
