ROSEBURG, Ore. – Roseburg High School’s wrestling team is celebrating its second straight OSAA Class 6A State Championship, its seventh title in nine years.

The Indians outscored their opponents on the mat by more than 60 points.

"It's a big deal to win state,” said head coach Steve Lander. “It doesn't happen very often in communities. There's lots of chances with all the sports and activities that we have and so it's a big deal and it's our season ending goal."

"When we work together that hard, you're forced to like each other so we all love each other,” said third-place finisher David Harker. “So winning that title is a reward for all the hard work and bringing it home to the community that supports us. It’s great."

Three grapplers won individual titles in their respective weight classes, two sophomores and a senior.

"This year we tied the greatest record for winning seven out of the past nine years and so that in itself is a great feeling and I'm sure next year we might be able to break it. So that would be awesome," said title winner Cole Van Anrooy.

According to OSAA records, a state title next year will be a new state record.
