A pair Douglas County girls basketball teams open tournament action at the OSAA state championships Thursday afternoon.

Number eight Roseburg (19-7) will face a familiar opponent in top-ranked South Medford (23-4) in a first-round game at the 6A tournnament in Portland. The Panthers won both games during the regular season by scores of 59-41 and 63-51.

Defending 4A state champion Sutherlin (25-0) takes on #9 Mazama (18-8) at Liberty High School in Hillsboro. The top-seeded Bulldogs beat the Viks 52-27 back on December 12.

Both games are set for 1:30PM.
