GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- The Grants Pass baseball team handed Roseburg its first Southwest Conference defeat in as many games as the Cavemen beat the Indians 7-2 Tuesday afternoon in Grants Pass.
Leading 1-0 after a lead-off homer in the bottom of the first, the Cavemen smacked three hits and capitalized on an Indian error to score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the victory.
Roseburg fell to 2-3 overall on the season, 0-1 in SWC play. Chris Stone took the loss after pitching 5 1/3 innings. The visitors finally got on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the 7th inning.
The Indians wrap up the season series with Grants Pass with a doubleheader Saturday at Legion Memorial Field in Roseburg. The first game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Each team in the SWC plays a three-game series against each other, with all three games of the series scheduled consecutively (1 single game and 1 doubleheader).
