ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Douglas County baseball fans looking for another team to watch can check out the Roseburg Brewers, an adult baseball team that plays in the Eugene Men's Senior Baseball League.
This year's squad kicks off the season Sunday, June 7, with a home doubleheader against the Eugene Cardinals at Sunshine Park in Roseburg.
The first game is scheduled for 11 a.m.; game two will start around 1 p.m. Admission is free.
Although the franchise wasn't qualified for post-season play last year, the Brewers still finished in first place with an 18-4 record. After starting the 2014 season 4-4, Roseburg finished the year on a 14-game winning streak.
"The roster is looking good and we should have a good shot at winning it all," says Brewers coach George Miller.
League games are played on Sundays and the Brewers' first three weekends are at home. The regular season ends August 23rd.
The Eugene Men's Senior Baseball League (EMSBL) was formed in 1994 and is affiliated with the Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL), the governing body nationwide of baseball for men ages 25 and up.
The league uses modified American League rules. All games are 7-inning Sunday doubleheaders. At the end of the regular season the top four teams face each other in the playoffs to determine the champion.
Several former local high school athletes and Roseburg American Legion baseball players make up the Roseburg Brewers' roster, which also includes a father/son combo -- Scott & Brady Fuller. The full roster is listed below, along with the number of years they've played for the team.
