Former Roseburg Indian Cameron Newell was drafted by the Florida Marlins.

The 2010 graduate was taken in the 35th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft.

Newell finished his college career at UC Santa Barbara by being named the Big West Co-Field Player of the Year after leading the league with a .368 batting average.

Newell was the school's first conference Player of the Year since 1991.
