ROSEBURG, Ore. -- The Roseburg Pepsi Bottlecaps are the only local American Legion baseball team without a loss after beating North Salem 10-1 Wednesday night at Legion Memorial Field.
With the win, the Bottlecaps improved to 2-0 overall heading into Thursday's Area-4 North league opener at Sheldon (1-1 league, 4-1 overall). Game one is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Sheldon split with Roseburg's Umpqua Lions in a league doubleheader Monday. The Lions (1-1) are back in action against Crater on Monday, June 22.
The Pepsi Bottlecaps and Umpqua Lions are Roseburg's single-A legion teams.
In triple-A action Tuesday, Roseburg's Dr. Stewart's suffered a sweep in their Area-4 League opener at Eugene, losing to the Challengers (6-1 overall) by scores of 8-3 and 8-4. The Docs (5-2) are back in action Thursday with a non-league home doubleheader against Wilson at Legion Field. Game one is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
