shs 20.03.05COOS BAY, Ore. -- The No. 2-seeded Sutherlin girls lost to top-seeded Clatskanie 51-40 in the 3A girls championship game Saturday at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.

The score was tied at the end of the first quarter, but the Tigers (23-2) outscored the Bulldogs 20-7 in the second, cushioning against Sutherlin's comeback attempts.

The Bulldogs' Kiersten Haines led all scorers with 19 points. Amy Dickover grabbed 14 rebounds for Sutherlin.

The Bulldogs finished the season with a 25-3 record.

COOS BAY, Ore. -- The No. 2 Sutherlin girls led the entire way and never looked back, defeating Burns 45-36 in the 3A semifinals Friday at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay to put them in the championship game on Saturday.

Amy Dickover led the way with 14 points for the Bulldogs while Kiersten Haines netted 12.

Sutherlin (25-2) will play for the 3A title against Clatskanie on Saturday at 5:45 p.m. at Marshfield High.

The No. 1 Tigers (22-2) defeated Brookings-Harbor 61-38 in their Friday semifinal to reach the championship game.

NORTH BEND, Ore. -- The No. 2 Sutherlin girls pulled away in the final moments of their first-round 3A state tournament game against 10th-seeded Vale Thursday.

The Bulldogs (24-2) moved into the semifinals with a 66-57 victory in overtime and will face No. 6 Burns in the semifinals at 3:15 p.m.at Marshfield High School in Coos Bay.

Sutherlin's Jadyn Vermillion led all scorers with 29 points and Paige Bailey had 13.
