In the Class 2A boys basketball state tournament, Oakland took home third place with a 77-69 win over Regis Saturday.

The Oakers recovered from a semifnal loss Friday, a 60-53 setback to Portland Christian, which plays for the state title against Western Christian.

Oakland finishes 24-5 overall.

Meanwhile, the North Douglas boys bounced back from a semifinal loss Thursday to take third place at the 1A state tournament with an exciting 67-66 win over Country Christian.

A day earlier, the Warriors fell to Mannahouse Academy of Portland, 77-44, in the semifinals. Mannahouse will play Crane for the state title.

Crane's quarterfinal victim, Days Creek, lost its second straight game Friday to Nixyaawii, 93-50. The Wolves finished 20-9 overall.

 

Oakland, N. Douglas boys net quarterfinal wins

The Oakland and North Douglas boys basketball teams picked up victories Thursday in the state tournament quarterfinals.

The Oakers took care of Stanfield in the 2A tourney in Pendleton and will face Portland Christian in a semfinal matchup Friday.

In the 1A quarterfinals, North Douglas won a close game against Sherman, 50-48, in Baker City.

The No. 5 Warriors will face top-seeded Mannahouse Academy of Portland on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Days Creek boys fell to Crane, 84-37, in their 1A quarterfinal game and will take on Nixyaawii in the consolation bracket on Friday.
