Umpqua Valley Christian took home the 2A/1A state baseball title Saturday (June 7) with a thrilling 2-1 win over Kennedy. UVC was the top-seeded team while Kennedy came in as the No. 2 seed.

The Monarchs won three state tourney games to reach the final, notching wins over Knappa, Irrigon and Lost River in the earlier rounds.

Elsewhere on the 2A/1A bracket, Reedsport (No. 6 seed) also picked up a state tourney win, defeating Crosspoint Christian 10-0 before falling to Portland Christian in the quarterfinals, 4-1.

In Class 6A, Roseburg defeated Tigard in the first round, 4-0, before falling to Grant in the second round, 4-3.

In Class 3A, South Umpqua capped another successful run by reaching the quarterfinals. The Lancers were eliminated by Cascade Christian, 6-5. SU defeated Horizon Christian 6-2 in the first round.
