The Roseburg Indians proved they are a lot better than their disappointing early season record as Thurman Bell's team rolled over visiting Forest Grove 51-19 Friday night at Finlay Field.

Roseburg jumped out to a 21-0 first quarter lead and never looked back rolling to the 32 point win. The Indians tasted victory for the first time this year improving to 1-4, while the Vikings dropped to 3-2.

Roseburg opens Southwest Conference action next Friday at Sheldon.

South Umpqua was the only local Far West team to taste victory Friday night dominating Illinois Valley 43-16. Douglas lost at Pleasant Hill 21-7 and Hidden Valley shutout Sutherlin 28-0.

It was a Douglas County battle in Glide as the Wildcats won a shootout over Reedsport 38-32. Both teams are now 1-1 in Sunset Conference action.

Dallas Amer's Oakland Oakers are starting to get their swagger back winning for the second straight week 42-8 over Monroe Friday night at Eddy Field in Oakland. Senior running back Ethan Sweeden scored four touchdowns as the Oakers improved to 2-0 in the Mountain View Conference. Oakland is now tied with Oakridge atop the league standings.

Elsewhere, North Douglas scored 37 unanswered points in a 37-7 win over Riddle and Yoncalla won a slugfest against Glendale 19-12.

In the Skyline League, Elkton picked up win number one on the season with a 61-7 victory over Prospect and Days Creek lost to Triad 46-20.
