dhs10_29_10_186.jpgThe Douglas defense held Brookings-Harbor scoreless in the second half and beat the Bruins 36-20 in the final Far West League football game of the season Friday night in Winston.

With the victory, the Trojans (4-1, 7-2) captured the league's number two spot in next week's play-in round; Brookings is the number four seed. Eighth-ranked Douglas will host Phoenix in a rematch of the 2010 season opener in which the Pirates won 22-20.

Number six Sutherlin ended the season on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 32-21 loss at the hands of fourth-ranked Siuslaw. The Vikings (5-0, 8-0) are the league champions, while the Bulldogs enter the postseason as the FWL's number three representative.

North Bend earned the final spot with a 45-16 victory over visiting South Umpqua. Lancer tailback James Simmons rushed for 104 yards and both SU touchdowns.

Elsewhere, Roseburg's Ben Goirigolzarri scored on touchdown runs of 4, 2 and 14 yards in a 34-7 win over the Crater Comets; Glide beat Coquille 33-18; Reedsport was shutout by Gold Beach 49-0; Camas Valley made quick work of Prospect 54-6; and Elkton lost to Triad 46-14.

Oakland (5-2, 6-2) jumped into sole possession of second place in the Mountain View Conference with a 21-14 upset of North Douglas; Crow downed Days Creek 32-0; Monroe shutdown Glendale 50-0; and Riddle lost to Oakridge 28-6.
