Days Creek fell behind early and were unable to mount a comeback as Knappa rolled to a 74-48 win during an  opening round game at the boys 2A state basketball tournament Wednesday night in Pendleton.

The Wolves (24-4) trailed 16-7 after the first quarter and 40-19 at halftime.

Brody Jansen paced Days Creek with 11 points. 

North Douglas (23-5) was beaten by Western Mennonite 61-34 in a 2A quarterfinal game on Wednesday afternoon.

Elkton lost its first round game at the 1A tournament in Baker City dropping a 53-40 contest to unbeaten and top-ranked McKenzie.

Noah Miller led the Elks (22-5) with 15 points; and teammate Tyler Trout added 12.

With the victory, the Eagles improved to 27-0 on the season.
