sutherlin_mendenhall.jpgSixteen local athletes have been named among the state's best 4A and 3A softball players in the state. Sutherlin pitcher Makayla Mendenhall and infielder Sierra Terrel-Perez both received first-team all-state honors (4A), while Glide's Alexa Skinner and Lindsey Mann were first-team selections in 3A.

Among the 4A second-team were South Umpqua pitcher Taylor Whitmore, catcher Melody Bliven and infielder Lindsey Goodson. Joining them were Sutherlin's Tess Bennett and outfielder Amanda Hutchings.

Sutherlin junior Tessa Knight was a third-team selection and teammate Randi Kostner was named Honorable Mention, along with Lancers' outfielders Kenzie Church and Shelby Bay.

Glide freshman pitcher McKenzie Shrum and sophomore Danette Enos made the 3A third-team as did Reedsport first baseman Stephanie Clardy.
