The top-ranked Oregon City girls lacrosse team won its first state title with a 23-7 victory over Lake Oswego Thursday at Tualatin Hills Recreation Center in Beaverton.

The Pioneers (19-1) beat their Three Rivers League rival for the third straight time this season. Lake Oswego (14-4) was ranked second heading into the championship game.

Thursday's final marks the end of the 14th season for the Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association, which expanded from 30 to 35 varsity teams this year.

The boys championship game will be held Saturday, June 6.
