The Roseburg boys basketball team improved to 4-4 in the Southwest Conference after beating Sheldon 58-54 Friday night. The Indians have won four straight games after starting conference play 0-4.

Brandon Johnson led the Indians with 19 points; Micah Audiss scored 11 points and Thaddeus Davis chipped in 10 for Roseburg, which improved to 13-5 overall.

Elkton completed a season sweep of Umpqua Valley Christian with a 58-51 win Friday night at Douglas High School in Winston. With the victory, the Elks (6-2, 13-4) moved to within a half game of first-place Days Creek.

South Umpqua, Sutherlin and Douglas all lost Far West League games on Friday. The Lancers (5-3, 11-5) were upended by ninth-ranked North Bend 63-51 despite 20 points from senior Kaden McFarland; Brookings-Harbor got by Sutherlin 46-45; Siuslaw won its first league game of the year 57-48 over Douglas; Glide beat Gold Beach 70-42; and Reedsport lost to Rogue River 77-52.

In girls basketball, Sheldon was too much for Roseburg 49-27; Douglas beat Siuslaw 61-38; South Umpqua lost at North Bend 61-36; Brookings-Harbor handed Sutherlin its first league loss of the season 37-35; Glide was beaten by Gold Beach 60-40; Rogue River downed Reedsport 59-37; Camas Valley beat Powers 37-32; and Elkton upended  UVC 47-29.
