200310 NWAC resumes tourney playUPDATE: "With much disappointment, in conjunction with both the Linn Benton Community College and Clackamas Community College administrative teams, it has been decided  to cancel the NWAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship Tournament," NWAC officials said Thursday (March 12, 2020). "We have made many efforts to continue the tournament but in the interest of public health the tournament has been cancelled."

NWAC said they want to acknowledge "the hard work of our student-athletes, coaches, and volunteers throughout the season, and especially during the past week."

This cancellation ends the season for the UCC basketball teams.

The Umpqua Community College men's and women's basketball teams will finally take to the hardwood in opening-round games at the NWAC Championships, which will now be played in Oregon.

This comes after the orginally-scheduled tournaments in at Everett Community College in Washington were suspended due to coronavirus concerns.

The 2020 Men's & Women's Basketball Championship Tournament has been rescheduled as follows:

  • Men's Basketball Tournament at Clackamas Community College, March 12-15, 2020.
  • Women's Basketball Tournament (Rounds I & II) at Linn Benton Community College March 12-13, 2020.
  • Women's & Men's (Semi-Finals & Finals) Basketball Tournament at Clackamas Community College, March 14-15, 2020.

"The NWAC would like to thank Clackamas Community College and Linn Benton Community College, their staff, and all the volunteers who are helping with the tournament on such short notice," the league said. "We will continue to monitor the latest news regarding the virus and follow CDC, state, and local health authorities' guidelines. NWAC and our host schools are working together to provide a safe and healthy environment for our student-athletes, workers and fans. NWAC teams should be fully aware of the risk the coronavirus may bring to the health and safety of all involved. People who wish to attend but are not feeling well/ill, are advised to stay at home."
